Grew up in the Bronx New York. Getting into my birds was the best thing that ever happened to me as a teen. The birds kept me off the streets and from getting into too much trouble and has been my passion ever since.
On weekends I spent most of my day hanging out on the roof tops with friends and flying my birds (Mostly Tipplers and Flights at the time). Usually the excitement while on the roof back in those days was to wait for some of the other local fliers to also put their birds up to fly. That was the opportunity for everyone in the surrounding area with birds to also put their birds up to fly and attempt to combine the flocks (Kits) in the air and to lure any of the other birds to come down with their birds. The rule for catching someone else's bird was that the bird could be sold back to the owner for a set amount, usually $1.00 if the owner wanted it, and if not then the person catching the bird had the opportunity to either keep it or take it to the pet shop for feed.
After HighSchool I felt like I just really needed to get away from NYC so I immediately joined the Army. Never did I think that I would run into more pigeon fanciers while serving in the military but it turned out that even when I was on assignment in Germany I met up with some local Germans that had racing homers and even with the language barrier I would visit and enjoy attempting to talk stories about the birds. During my last assignment in Hawaii from 2001 to 2003 I met some awesome friends that flew Rollers. Well now after 22 years of service I am retired from the mililtary and working as a Defense contractor. Of course I can now have my birds again and plan on having fun with my family and the birds in my country home in Missouri. I would have never thought that I would end up in Missouri but with the peace and quiet out here I can't imagine being anywhere else. Most of my family of birds originate from the Jaconette family out of Bob Westfall, Bill Roy and Rich Hayes, however in the last few years I have been working on creating my own family of birds.
Occasionally I have some Rollers for sale. I breed plenty every year and can't keep them all.
